Biography

Dr. Hammad Omer is a distinguished Tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at COMSATS University Islamabad. His academic journey has been marked by remarkable achievements and contributions to the field of bioengineering and medical imaging.

Dr. Omer’s academic pursuit led him to Imperial College London, where he earned his Master’s degree in Bio-medical Engineering in 2006. His exceptional dedication and performance were acknowledged when he received the prestigious Bargarit Scholar of the Year award for his outstanding accomplishments during his master’s studies.

Continuing his academic journey, Dr. Omer embarked on a research-focused path, pursuing a PhD in the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London. Between 2008 and 2012, he was honored as a Commonwealth scholar, a testament to his commitment to scholarly excellence. In 2012, he successfully obtained his PhD, further solidifying his expertise in the field.

Dr. Omer’s research endeavors have had a significant impact on both academia and the medical imaging domain. His groundbreaking work in the field of MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) has led to the development of four innovative inventions. These inventions have been recognized by the United States Patents and Trademark Office (USPTO) through the granting of patents, underlining the originality and practicality of his contributions.

With a passion for education and mentorship, Dr. Omer has supervised and guided the research of numerous students. He has been instrumental in the successful completion of eight doctoral theses, as well as the supervision of more than 50 Master’s and undergraduate theses. His commitment to nurturing the growth of aspiring researchers and scholars is evident in his diverse portfolio of mentees.

Dr. Omer’s impact on the global academic community extends beyond his research and mentorship efforts. He has authored over 200 papers in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals and conferences. His expertise has been sought after on an international scale, as he has delivered talks at prestigious conferences in countries such as the USA, UK, Canada, France, Austria, Germany, and Sweden.

Currently, Dr. Omer’s research focus is on the intersection of cutting-edge technology and healthcare. He is passionate about leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance the diagnostic accuracy and quality of medical images. This research area holds significant promise in revolutionizing medical imaging practices and improving patient care.
